Meet our Faculty: Michelle Stabler-Havener

Welcome back from the Thanksgiving break! We hope you had a safe and relaxing holiday. Today we continue with our series about TESOL Certificate Program faculty and are pleased to introduce Michelle Stabler-Havener!

MichelleStablerHavenerName: Michelle Stabler-Havener

Course Taught: Classroom Practices

Degree: Ed.D. Student in Applied Linguistics (Concentration: Second Language Assessment)

Background in teaching/TESOL: I have taught ESL in Los Angeles and New York City, EFL in China, and have conducted teacher trainings in the U.S., India, China, Thailand, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Additionally, I instructed an online and field-based Second Language Assessment course for Azusa Pacific University’s MA TESOL program and was a Senior English Language Fellow for the U.S. Department of State.

Favorite part of teaching in the TCP: I love getting to know the participants and learning from them. I take great pleasure in being part of the “ah-ha” moments when students make fresh connections between theory and practice or learn something new. Moreover, I enjoy watching participants grow in their pedagogical knowledge and teaching ability.

Advice for prospective TCP students: Don’t be afraid to ask questions! TCP instructors and administrators want you to succeed. Feel free to make your needs, concerns, and questions known so that we can help you get the most out of your teacher training experience.
